Lezay 12kms Very large market every Tuesday morning. Supermarket & bars/restaurant.
Melle 20ms - a beautiful market town in the heart of the Poitou-Charentes with restaurants, supermarkets and banks.The town is best known for having three fine examples of roman-style churches, constructed in the 11th/12th centuries. Just outside the town are the silver mines that once made Melle the centre of the Mint for France.
Marais Poitevin - a large region of canals and marshes; best explored on a boat hired from one of the towns here.
Parthenay - visit the medieval centre with its castle ruins and picturesque setting on the banks of the Thouet river.
Other attractions nearby include Futuroscope, Vallee Des Singes & the Crocodile Park.
La Rochelle is well worth a visit anytime of year and has the nearest beaches, approx. 1hr 40mins drive
